Unhappy moving /home and understanding fstab

I'm not new to linux, but I'm confused by the way fstab is set up in Fedora. I don't understand the syntax of it, esp. with the "LABEL=/1" and etc. Basically, I'm trying to move /home to another partition which was /home for a different distro before I installed Fedora. I guess I forgot to set that partition's mount point as /home because now /home resides in the / partition and I'm not sure how to move it and have everything still work. Thanks in advance!

Fedora uses labels by default, you can use device names like /dev/sda1 or whatever if you prefer.

The advantage to using labels is that even if you move your hard drive around or delete partitions, it will have no problems finding the right partition. See "man e2label" for more info.

As for your /home you should be able to just move it to the new partition then mount that partition to /home. Problems you may run into are that your previous distro used a different group by default, most distros use 1000 for the first user while Fedora uses 500, and maybe a Selinux issue? not sure about that but definitely make sure the permissions are right.

Yeah, I made sure to create a new user for myself that has the same user and group IDs, I just got confused by the label stuff.

Thanks! I will be sure to check into e2label.
