Follow the directions on http://www.mjmwired.net/resources/mjm-fedora-f8.html to add the Livna Reposition then do the yum install vlc. The other thing, your error looks like one one that comes up in the middle of an update session or high bandwidth time which means just try it a little later. Troy

mv /etc/yum.repos.d/*.* /tmp
rpm-ivh http://fedora.tu-chemnitz.de/pub/lin...8-3.noarch.rpm
rpm -ivh http://rpm.livna.org/livna-release-8.rpm
yum clean all
yum -y install vlc-0.8.6c-9.lvn8

Hello and welcome. One problem you're having, or will have, is that there is no Fedora 8.2 release. Fedora doesn't release point versions so the current 'stable' version is 8, which has just been released. Any point releases are alphas/betas of the next version of Fedora, due out in approx 6 months time. So, unless you want to debug the 8.2 early beta (alpha?) I suggest you download 8 and install that then come back with your questions.

Yeah, use yum to install it and have the right repository information setup. The error says that you are trying to install a file that does not exist. Maybe you should try using the release version of Fedora 8, and not the pre-release version since the repositories are setup for the regular version and not the pre-release test versions anymore. If those links worked, you could right click over them, save the rpm file to your computer, and then install the rpm via a double click through Gnome without any problems. Troy
