Can't connect using KNetworkManager - conflict with 'Network'?

hi!
I am newbie, so please be patient and stay calm...
I'm running fc7 on compaq evo n610c, with kernel 2.6.23.8-34.fc7

I just configured my wireless network card (d-link dwl-g630) and I can connect to the network only using system-config-network (honestly speaking I'm using only the gui availible from kde menu Administration --> Network), and I badly need to connect via KnetworkManager! Whenever I try to connect via knetworkmanager I fail. I don't even get any error report (or I cannot find it). I can see all the networks around, and after I chose one, and try to establish the connection, the connecting process stops at 28% an then fails.

Using the 'network' application I connect with no problems. But I have no control over the connection - I am going to use my lapotpop at the university and I really need to be able to choose from various networks that are around me.

I tried everything I could imagine - usins system-config-services I tried to disable 'network' and run 'networkmanager', I tried enabling them at boot (or disabling), but networkmanaer never connects. I can only connect via 'network'.

Why?

What can I do to use the NetworkManager? I am really looking forward for your reply...
thanks in advance!

Make sure you have both the NetworkManager services enabled and reboot

Thanks for answer!
unfortunatelly I have, and it doesn't change anything...

Well, I mean I've got them both checked in 'system-config-services' menu. Here are all the configurations I tried:
'Network' - ; 'NetwokrManager' + ; "NetworkManagerDispatcher' + ---> can't connect (after reboot, of course)
'Network' + ; 'NetwokrManager' + ; "NetworkManagerDispatcher' + ---> can't connect
'Network' + ; 'NetwokrManager' - ; "NetworkManagerDispatcher' - ---> can't connect (well, it does, but not via Network Manager)
'Network' + ; 'NetworkManager' + ; "NetworkManagerDispatcher' - ---> can't connect

where '+' means checked box in the system-config-services menu

What does it mean? What should I do next?

Open a terminal window and change to root with su - (su dash) the dash is important and type:

yum install knetworkmanager

or it might be:

yum install KNetworkManager

The caps play a part I just can't remember....Almost forgot one important point, if you're going to use networkmanager or knetworkmanager goto system ->administration ->network and set all your devices to "NOT" "activate on boot" and set them to "allow users to enable/disable the device

Unfotunatelly, I've already done this.
I have knetworkmanager installed.
I do not force any net device (I have wireless and eth) to start on boot. Both of them are beeing allowed to be run by user.

Still the knetworkmanager fails while connecting me.
What can I do?
How is that possible if the 'network' (form system-config-network) allows me to get good, stable connection?

Open a terminal window and type:

knetworkmanager

and post the errors...Are you running DHCP or using STATIC ip's???

I'm using DHCP
In terminal everything is fine, after starting knetworkmanager:

running as realtime process now (priority 50)
Launched ok, pid = 3091

and an icon of knetworkmanager appears - just like it has been before. Then, I choose the wireless network I wish to connect to, and I doubleclick on it a nd a progress bar appears.
It always stops with 28%, and tthen it has an error: cannot configure the device

why?
I have no problems with connecting using the system-config-network gui...
Of course I am not even trying to do both things at the same time.

I cant get KNetworkManager to work either. In Konsole I do get a series of freaky lines.

I get the following in the konsole:

** (nm-applet:3552): WARNING **: <WARN> applet_dbus_manager_start_service(): Co uld not acquire the NetworkManagerUserSettings service as it is already taken. Return: 3

(nm-applet:3552): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_hash_table_destroy: assertion `hash_table != NULL' failed
