wifi on Acer laptop

I just purchased an acer laptop and have it dualbooting vista and fedora 8.

The problem I'm having is that there is a switch on the front of the laptop to enable the wireless card, which works fine in Windows, but doesn't work at all in Fedora. Is there any way I can force the wireless to activate without using that switch, or to give the switch functionality in fedora?

Probalby is not needed. Post more info on the notebook.
What is the model number of the Acer?
Post hardware of the notrebook from this command. ' /sbin/lspci -v '
Post loaded models for the moment. ' /sbin/lsmod '
Post the kernel version ' uname -r '
And post what kernel rpms are installed. ' rpm -qa | grep kernel '
