fc7 hangs on Input: PS/2 Generic Mouse as /class/input/input2

Hello,
I have an old pc, an athlon 1GHz with a scsi card (win2k installed on scsi drive) and a newer maxtor hd (fedora installed there). I have a USB digital camera media reader and a usb printer installed. I have a pci tv tuner card installed.

I installed Fedora 7 and on the first boot (and all successive boot attempts) it hangs. The last message I see is:

Input: PS/2 Generic Mouse as /class/input/input2

The only message prior to that which catches my eye is:
Powernow-k8: Processor cpuid 644 not supported ( appears about 6 or 8 lines up from the mouse message).

I have tried all of the following options, singly and in random combinations and all together:
noacpi
psmouse_noext=1
noapic
acpi=off
apm=off
ide=nodma
i8042.nomux
nofb
nousb

and the exact same thing happens each time.
If you haven't guessed by now, I'm pretty amateur. Any ideas?
thanks in advance,
spectre_man

Hallo spectre_man

No idea whats wrong. It is my exuberance, Fedora 7 can't be booted from the installation-cd on some older computer's. It runs well after installation. I sometimes got success with the live-cd or often I installed Fedora Core 6 an updated it online to Fedora 7. I is not a nice way. But worked always in my cases.
see: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/YumUpg...41dba914ed52b1

Fedora 6 and 8 installation-cd works on all PC's who Fedora 7 couldn't boot. Don't ask my why.

Thanks! A friend (linux he-man who got me started) suggested the same thing. I'll try FC8 and see what happens.
