Repository location for vmware any any patches

In doing some documentation for myself, I have noticed that these vmware patches for vmware-config.pl depending on what version you are using are in different locations out there in the internet. Tried looking on the VMware web site to see if it had all of them, but no suprise it does not. Is there a single repository with mirrors with all the vmware patches for vmware-config.pl (which is patching the source to create vmmon kernel modules)? Or is the only method is to scour the internet through Google and hope you find the right version that will work with the kernel that you have?

VMWare any-any repository

So far, there's one big repository for vmware-any-any. These official (yet unofficial) patches are maintained by a VMWare engineer in Eastern Europe.

You can get them here:
http://knihovny.cvut.cz/ftp/pub/vmware/

vmware-any-any-update-115.tar.gz is the last "official" update. It works with kernel 2.6.23 in Fedora 6-7.

There was an unofficial 116 package that worked for me on kernels up to 2.6.24 in F8. Beyond that, I had to do some tweaking and pull tar files from one patch set and combine them to make a fake 118 version that at least got me working on 2.6.25 in F8.

I still haven't gotten it working in F9, let alone F8 with 2.6.26.

Various mailing lists state that Workstation 6.5 will actually have support for at least 2.6.25. There's a free beta of it out now that's reported to work in F9, albeit slowly (thanks to debug code being enabled).

This thread should give you the full explanation.

HTH!
