Console Res

Okay, so now i got XDCMP to work, i dont need kde running on my servers screen, so i now drop to a command prompt with Ctrl+Alt+F1

What i want to have, is the command prompt at a higer res, i.e. 1024x768 as i intend to leave 'top' on my screen.

How can i go about changing the res for the command prompt?

Anyone know why this doesn't work for me ??
I have Philips 17" LCD display and GeForce4MX420.
And I know I have console frame buffer support.

I tried a lot of different vga modes, but I always get blank screen at boot. !? wtf
