Pypanel + Buffer Patch

Anyone else use Pypanel and had success with the buffer batch by rab? I can get the panel to float if it's in the bottom position. Now, if I move the panel to the top position I can get it to float BUT it leaves a space the size of a panel at the bottom of the screen. I've tried toying around with the script a bit but I'm not at all familiar with python and I can't get it to work.

I haven't tried posting on the Pypanel sourceforge forum yet but if no one hear has any advice I'll try that. The forum looks inactive (and the project is mostly unmaintained, I think) so that's why I'm here first.

Completely unrelated, but I'm having a lot of fun with Openbox and just felt the need to, err, throw that out here.
