Unhappy Trouble installing

I am trying to install on my second hard drive Fedora 8. It boots from the disc and gets to the part where is asking me about language, keyboard, and where to install from. I choice the local CD/DVD as I have the full DVD Disc. Then it say it can not find my driver even though it reading from the disc. my DVD drive is a Memorex DVD RW dual +/- internal IDE. It about 4 or 5 years old. What drive do I need to choice to keep it from hanging and installing?

I have also tried to understand the jigdo and how to download the respin iso from there but I am having no luck other then to download the .template file. If someone could walk me through that it might help in the install part.

Hello:
If you have not already done so, have a scan through Common Kernel Problems and or Fedora 8 - Common Bugs and Known Issues and see if anything applies to your issue.

Thanks for the information Seve, but it mostly seems to be about the keyboard this is specifically looking like a DVD ROM issue. Unless it missing something when it ask for drivers right after selecting local CD/DVD on the install?

I think Seve is implying the kernel is having general issues with the hardware. The Common Kernel Problems describes workarounds specifically for DVD issues, not just keyboard issues. See the section "Can't find installation CD/DVD or hard drives", as directly linked by Seve above, especially the DMA and PCI options.

Note : hit "ESC" key at the graphical install menu. This will get you to a "boot:" prompt. Then (example) :

Code:
boot: linux install pci=nomsi,nommconf
This is from my recollection, someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
