couldnt able to install fedora 8 on amd athlon x2

dear friends

I am trying install fedora on AMD X2 @ 2.5 ghz on Asus M2nmx with a SATA Samsung DVD-RW drive
in the first instance i have to disable ACPI in power menu in bios to run the file.

later in the second instance when i tried to install i get the following message with a long delay

/usr/bin/python: error while loading shared libraries: /usr/lib/libpython2.5.so.1.0: invalid ELF header
install exited abnormally [1/1]
sending termination signals...done
sending kill signals...done
disabling swap...
unmounting filesystems

the media DVD is good and i have already installed in many systems never encountered a problems like this

Friends kindly help

During the boot process, try adding the "noapic" parameter to the boot line.

Your first note said you had disabled ACPI in the bios.

the noapic (different spelling) is for something completely different. Try it as I have had to use this option for installation of Fedora ever since I got my Athlon 64 x2 processor.

Advanced Programmable Interrupt Controller (APIC) != Advanced Communication and Power Interface (ACPI)

Did you partition the drive for dual boot? or did you install to a second drive. In either case one must strike a key or Fkey to get action.

This is going to be difficult as I don't know what you configured the GRUB like when you installed. Did you select to place it in the MBR or in the install partition? Did you set up to dual-boot with another OS? Please be specific, as there isn't much to go on in your post.
