X apps ignore keyboard and mouse after switching back from 2nd Gnome session

I'm running:
  • Fedora 8, fully yum updated
  • NVIDIA driver from Livna
  • yum setup from fedorafaq
  • Asus F3SV laptop with NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GS

I thought it was Gnome Do, but I uninstalled this and logged out and back in, but the problem persists.

Compiz is installed but NOT active (I'm running Metacity).

Any ideas on how to tackle this?
