Problem upgrading to F8
i recently upgraded to F7 and im trying to upgrade to fedora 8 but when it gets to the screen about updating, switching or keeping the boot loader, i choose to update it and it stays at the checking for the dependencies packages dialog box, the bar loads completely but it doesn't do anything afterwards, i left there last nite and it was still there this morning. Any suggestions, or why is this happening?
Any help or any other ways to install it?

Try not upgrading the bootloader. After all it is just a bootloader and you'll still be running F8 if that goes well.

I guess. Are the options referring to updating the bootloader itself or just the configuration files?

You know what I think that the dependencies may have nothing to do with the bootloader choice you make. I think the problem may be with you fedora repositories.

well, i dont know what the dependencie packages are, it just that when it gets to that window it doesnt do anything else. What are the repositories u r referring to? how can i check them?? should i download f8 again and do a new burn???? Because there's only 3 choices, update the bootloader, keep it or switch it(make a new one it says) and it always starts checking the dependency packages there and doesn't do anything else.

In grub while booting you can add additional arguments to the kernel. I don't know exactly how but it does tell you. When grub starts press enter then read what it says at the bottom. I think that's where you're supposed to put updates=...

Don't go for upgrade from DVD, just install fedora-relese-8.rpm ,livna-relese-8.rpm
rpm -ivh http://ftp-stud.hs-esslingen.de/pub/...8-3.noarch.rpm
#yum upgrade
After checking yum will give a list of offending packages or dependency failure .
Just remove these packages
yum remove ""package name"
If you go for DVD upgrade later you have to update tons of packages once again.
