Because it's like Redhat ... only with a toy surprise in the box.

Tired of the having to secure and patch Winblows, also the perpetual reinstallation and updating (i.e.nagged to the point of distraction ) of security software.

I tried several other Linux distros but found Fedora fitted my requirements better, as it has SElinux. Despite some grief with F8 & F9 preview, it's a heck of a lot better than what I used to deal with.

Because...

1) it is like RedHat and RedHat is what I know best
2) it offers good support of most new hardware
3) it is not "cool" and popular with the kids like ubuntu
4) Fedora users are generally helpful and knowledgeable linux users
5) GNOME rocks
6) its just a great distro

Oh, that one was good

These are mine:
- All the things I need to do my work comes on the Fedora DVD (that's saving me a lot of bandwidth, and time spent in installing/configuring stuff)
- Bleeding edge software (I always want the latest software in my PC, and often I just need it), yet it's pretty solid and stable .
- The community seems to be cooperative and friendly in forums, IRC and mailing lists.
- Amazing artwork (I usually use custom themes on my desktop, but Fedora's defaults are just wonderful).
- Since yesterday: "yum-presto"
- GNOME
- I like hats, I don't have one (yet).
- I won a Fedora T-Shirt last year (however when I'm wearing it everyone ask me if it's a Flash T-Shirt, and I hate Flash ).

- Last but not least, it's free

Oh, also I've used Ubuntu for a while, and I'm not comfortable with it, the few options that the installer has, also I don't trust Canonical.

I can't claim to have used a lot of Linux distros - Redhat/Fedora, Suse/OpenSuse and Mandrake. I've installed several others for occasional use.

I like the huge package count with Fedora.
I strongly like the (usually) up-to-date software.
It's pretty well integrated and I'm capable of managing the difficulties.
most important ...
RedHat is not owned by Novell.

I didn't choose Fedora. The voices inside my head did.

Because it's what happened to be on the DVD disk that was lurking in the back-cover pouch of "Linux for Dummies" that my wife checked out of the library after I told her I was looking for a book to help me learn linux commands (CLI). I didn't choose it... it chose me.

I use Fedora (8) CUZ it just works.....well, with a tad of tweaking.

It's close to looking and acting like RH....but quite cutting edge...but not quite bleeding edge...that's the devel branch and testing.

But mainly cuz RupertP's "voices" talked to me too...I heard them quite plainly....
"Use the Fedora......use the Fedora....let the Fedora guide you..."
(ummm or did I hear that somewhere else?)

What I like best about Fedora is that it doesn't get in the way of one's attempts to modify its functioning. Fedora comes with a certain one-size-fits-all configuration, which may not make a lot of sense to experienced users, but which is most likely welcomed by those trying out Linux for the first time. But this default configuration can be modified very easily by expert users--and Fedora makes no condescending attempts to guide the user down some idiotic path or other.

I like Fedora and Gentoo. But I love Fedora.
