How to see Windows shared files from Fedora 9

Hi everybody.

I have a computer with Windows XP SP2 and another one with Fedora 9, and I want to access from one of them to the shared files of the other.

I access network:/// and there is an icon called Windows Network, but if I open it it doesn't show anything (In other words, smb:/// is empty), and the computer who runs Windows has 4 shared folders... I've installed Samba and, despite the fact that serviceconf shows me The status of this service is unknown for smb service, the command /etc/rc.d/init.d/smb status tells me that smb is running... and for this reason I suppose that Samba is running.

Despite this, I can't access Windows's files from Fedora (and viceversa).

What could I do?

Regards, and thanks for your time.

hey #V[Á]lentín
u can try the following and tell me if it worked

-go to administration>>firewall
-type in ur root password
-u will see a list of services, look for samba and check it then apply
-then go to administration>>SELinux
-u will see a list on the left , select boolean
-in the filter type in 'samba' without quotes
-u will see like 8 or 9 entries just go ahead and check them all and apply
-restart ur computer
this will allow u to access ur windows machines from fedora...hope it helps

It works! Thanks, but It works really bad. When I access one folder, it mounts that folder with GVFS, and I can see the photos and videos in that folder from Fedora. And I also can open and modify text documents, it's nice. But I can't listen audio files with AmaroK or Totem (I think that's stupid, because I can watch videos with it) or run Windows' programs with Wine. And a few minutes after to do the connection, I also can't see photos or videos from Windows' folder or modify documents(and the ~/.gvfs/ folder disappears!).

Is this behabiour a bug or could be a bad configuration??

Thank for your time.

If my memory serves me correctly, your issue/problem with audio files is a sound issue. Search the forum and you will run into others with similar the same problem. I don't recall their solutions.
