Fedora 9 runs fine in LiveCD and installs fine....

I set up the installation fine. I set it up fine. But when I go to log into the Fedora I put my user name and password and it just freezes. I hear a beep and it freezes. No error messages or anything.

I have a Intel Pentium 4 processor with 2.8 ghz
2gb of ram
geforcefx 5200
creative soundcard
logitech speakers and mouse and a regular hp keyboard.

Can someone tell me what is going wrong?

Have you tried logging in at the command prompt and not into X?

You say you make it to the login screen so that means X windows graphics is working. Then when you log in it beeps and freezes. Could be a hardware lockup on the sound card. Try disconnecting your sound card?

Posted a while back try this:
If anything (yum or otherwise) hangs again, use the following to diagnose the problem.
1. strace -f ls -l
This traces kernel system calls. The -f causes to to also trace sub-processes started with fork/exec. You can restrict the output; see 'man strace'.
2. ltrace
This traces C library function calls. More useful for debugging specific applications.
3. If everything freezes, use the alt-sysrq key combinations, if they're enabled in your kernel. Google for those or see linux/Documentation/sysrq.txt.

It could be an error with ACPI tables. If you don't detect a problem with the strace command, control your BIOS and flash it if necessary
