Question Change boot screen color

My boot screen is dark blue and the highlight bar is black. I boot a couple different OSs and it's hard to see the black line and which OS is highlighted. I'd like to change either the background or the highlight bar colors. Can you lend a hand, Thank You!

p.s. I use Grub to boot

Nope, not at all. Just the blue and the black are very similar.

ilja, just wanted to wrap up this thread with one more ThankYou. After reading the tut and a bit of experimenting and One hosed boot. I now have exactly what I wanted, actually it's better than I wanted , it's great! ... and I'm very pleased.

Nice link ilja

The problem here is that the splash image used on FC2 is dark blue and the highlight bar is black making it very difficult to see which option is selected - not very well thought out whoever came up with this one

Like ilja linked to, the easiest solution is to change the splashscreen image to something lighter. A very quick solution is to grab the splashscreen image from FC1 and use that as it is a light blue splash image and the black highlight bar now shows up better

The file you want is /boot/grub/splash.xpm.gz.

It can be called anything, just change the name as appropriate in /boot/grub/menu.lst
