Fedora 9 x86_64 hangs after send hardware profile

Fedora 9 x86_64 fresh install hangs after send hardware profile regardless of if I send or not. I have seen elsewhere suggestions to retry with different media - I have validated the media burn and it still fails.

The install recognizes that I have a GEForce 8800 GT and quad core 6600. I'm running on an asus p5ke (wifi) with 4 gigs of ram.

I'm newly returning to linux, previously one could use ctrl-alt F-key to get to a terminal session. This doesn't work in this case, so debugging is difficult for me.

I have previously gotten to the point where I can boot in interactive mode, when I do this, the system hangs after the prompt to start (or not) "local" - even if I answer N.

Any suggestions?

Thx

Can you get to a virtual console (ctrl+alt+f1) ?
May be a vid driver issue (or may not).

When initially booting, yes. After the send profile prompt, no. After send profile, I get a white screen when I try to do a ctrl-alt-F1.

To clarify, it's after the I answer the send profile question, that I get the white screen when I try to do the ctrl-alt-F1.
