Why xrandr can not set dual head resolution of i915 more than 1600x1600

I uses xrandr to set dual head on my laptop with an extern display. It can only set resolution up to 1600x1600. But my two display are 1280x768 and 1440x900. I can not set it. Can anyone tell me how to set larger resolution?

My friend's windows xp can do the job with the same job very well.
