Question BT Voyager ADSL USB Modem configuration for FC 2...

Hello,

I have just installed Fedora core 2.6.5-1.358 and trying to install my BT broadband. I downloaded and extracted eciadsl-usermode-0.9.tar as root. As root, I entered the following setup as eciconftxt.sh:

User: clayton.penn@btbroadband.com
Password: <no Password required>
Provider: UK..British Telecom

DNS1: 194.74.65.69
DNS2: 194.72.9.38
VPI/VCI: 0,38

Modem
VPI/PID1: 1690/0203
VID2/PID2: 0915/0204

bin file: /etc/eciads1/synch01.bin

PPP Mode: VCM_RFC2364

Use DHCP: yes
Use Static IP: yes

startmodem

loading firmware (2/5)...

GlobeSpan USB ADSL WAN Modem Compatible modem found (in 2411ms)
ECI load 1: success
firmware loaded successfully

setting up modem (3/5)

ECI load 2: success
synchronization successful

connecting modem (4/5)

couldn't get channel number: Input/Output Error
Using channel 2
Using Interface ppp0
Connect: ppp0 <--> /devpts/4
Script /usr/local/bin/pppoeci -alt 4 vpi 0 -vci 38 -vendor 0x0915 -product 0x0204 -mode VCM_RFC2364 finished (pid 5263), status = 0xf4
Script /usr/local/bin/pppoeci -alt 4 vpi 0 -vci 38 -vendor 0x0915 -product 0x0204 -mode VCM_RFC2364 finished (pid 5270), status = 0xf4
Modem Hangup
Connection Terminated
Failed to Connect.

Have I made a mistake here ?

What kernel do you have? It seems your kernel must be patched if its less than 2.6.6 or equal to or greater than 2.6.8.
