Updates & Custom Repos via CD?

Hello all, I have been looking for a way to download a keep the updates available for F8. I do not have a high-speed connection... I am stuck on dialup. Even though I have gotten dialup working under F8, it is limited to 14.4k (free linuxant drivers), which is nowhere near a reasonable speed to update a system. I was wondering, is there a way to download the entire "updates" repository, burn it to CD/DVD, and then update my system via that CD/DVD? Same goes for a software repo... if I were to build several different programs, could I create a repo of those builds, and then just have the system recognize the CD and install them automatically the next time?

I have looked into the respins of F8, especially the "Everything" spin, but many packages that I am interested in are VERY outdated (Banshee, for example). So, are the above solutions possible, or am I just stuck updating whenever I can get my hands on a high speed connection?

Thank you!
