Some odd results there.
If you have a 4965 card then it shouldn't connect at all if you haven't got the firmware installed.
However, the command you have used 'rpm -e' is the command to erase the 4965 package so wireless shouldn't work in any event.
I suggest that you use Yum to put the firmware package back in place.
yum install iwl4965-firmware
should do it as long as you have a wired internet connection.
Then run the connamd:
to verify that you have a 4965 card and post back if it still doesn't work and we'll think again.
