mirrors.fedoraproject.org

I've read the Announcement up here (Announcement: Update on Infrastructure Issue) but it's not clear to me what I need to do in order to use yum. It tries to access mirrors.fedoraproject.org but since that server seems to be down I can't install anything (I'm not doing automatic updates, only would like an occasional install).

Is there something I need to do first which I'm not aware of or simply this issue has not been resolved and I have to be patient?

The site looks fine to me. But perhaps there's no path from where you are at the moment.

Even if you don't intend to regularly update, you should still install the new fedora-release package to access the latest package versions - they're in a different directory tree in all the mirrors. Edit: the new fedora-release package is the only update currently in the old locations, so it should be the only available update that you see.

Wait a while (a couple of hours, I'd say) and try again. If it still doesn't work, post your /etc/yum.conf and /etc/yum.repos.d/* file contents.

I'm in Southern California as you can see. I can't ping mirrors.fedoraproject.org and nor fedoraproject.org. These sites are visible to everybody else? Please let me know.

You probably already know my answer - I can see both sites no problem.

I've had outages to certain sites before that were path related, rather than the site being down - they've only lasted an hour or two at most in my experience - I don't know exactly if that's your problem, but it sounds like it.

I hope it's rectified soon.
