Nvidia 177.78 Beta Drivers

Hey everyone,

I would like to give the new beta drivers a try. Are there any rpms made for this (I haven't been able to find any)? Also, if I wanted to try this out, is it safe to install the .run package from nvidia's webpage while I have akmod/kmod installed from livna? I've installed the .run files in the past (older fedoras) but not in fc9 with all these new packages.

Thanks

You can run the beat drivers from the run file IF you HAVE the kernel headers and kernel devel installed..

yum install kernel-headers
yum install kernel-devel

than from the command line in init 3 you can run the run program and it will build everything that you need.

I am running it here on F10 and other than an addition to the xorg.conf file for dual monitors it runs just fine

enjoy

Thanks. I'll give it a try. Maybe it will help with some display weirdness in KDE 4.

If you're using rawhide or Fedora 10 beta + livna, you can install it with
Code:
yum install akmod-nvidia

Firewing - I'm running fc9 and I have akmod-nvidia installed. Does this mean that I automatically get this or do I still have to run nvidia's setup from their webpage?

Thanks everyone

No, if you are on Fedora9 using standard Livna repository, I think the latest version available is: 173.14.
However if you are using the Livna-devel repository, they have 177.78 prepackaged (intended for F10 - Fedora10 users).
