Skype disappearing from gnome task bar after opening

Once i open Skype it disappears from the task bar and i can't use it.
I tried deleting my user account and starting again with a new account. Same thing happened again after a while. Anybody know how i can get skype to to reappear once i have opened it. I'm using fedora 9 and have updated it fully.
