Only about "1":
you may try audacity... but it's not a professional software.
yum install audacity-nonfree

bye!

The answer to the second question is that the program is called alien. I don't really know how to use it.
If I might make two suggestions---often, people just skim the forums, so a more meaningful subject line can be helpful, something like, looking for audio editing software.
Also, probably a second thread with the question about alien, again, with a subject line that will catch the attention of people who know the answer (and can hopefully, give you more help than I did) is probably a better idea.

Note that these are suggestions, not an official order or anything silly like that. They're just suggestions so that you have a better chance of getting help.
The reason for putting it into two separate threads is that again, people are often busy and might skip it if it has two questions. Yes, in a perfect world that wouldn't happen, but as we all know, we live in an imperfect world.

Hrm, I was going to offfer to change the subject line for you if you desire, but with the new forum software, I haven't quite figured out how to do that.

Anyway, those tips might help in the future. Sorry that I can't be more specifically helpful with your two questions, but I know there's a few people around who've used alien and they can, hopefully, give you more detailed answers about it. (I'm sure there are web tutorials around too, so perhaps you check yourself. I *think* that doing alien --help gives you the possible suggestions, but I only used it once, quite awhile ago.)

alien...got it...thanks for the tip, but i dont generally post like this , this one is an exception, because this one isnt really a software problem that requires an explaination of whats going on and whats the problem, because there is no problem , its just common knowledge/general information...

and the reason i wrote the subject line as "a couple of questions" is because then the reader would understand that I have more than one doubt, so....anyways...."alien" got it. thanks...i have now gotton into the habit of reading the wikis before actually posting questions about using...will post in a seperate thread if i run into some problems.

and thanks bee...
