Question RAID1 failed, help needed

hi
I use a linux server as my store's data storage.
I have linux installed on 2x 250GB hdd.
The first HDD failed this morning. The system still boots fine if I leave both the HDD intact. It just run the system with 1 out of 2 drives.

However, if I remove the first (failed) HDD, the system no longer boots, I suspect it's the bootloader record is stored in the first HDD.

I need advise on how I can remove first HDD and replace it. From my understanding, if I remove the first HDD, the system won't boot and I won't be able to put in a new HDD to sync with the second HDD.

Thanks in advance for your valuable information.

Please don't mark threads as urgent, all problems on the forum are equally urgent. If you're using Fedora as a server for a business then maybe you should purchase RedHat and get paid for support. This is a user help forum.

One quick Google search for "fedora software raid 1" brought up this nice guide from a thread in this very forum:

http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=171091

The most relevant part for you says:
"Anaconda seems to install the bootloader (grub) in the first partition of each hard disk, and not at the MBR of each disk. There's no problem with that, but if you remove one of the disks, you would have to manually teach your system how to boot and where to find the grub.conf file."

All credit goes to Duli, the original poster of that thread.
