Exclamation Help on Limit Transfer Speed on a IP/Port

Guys,

I need help I am trying to limit ethier the Ip of a user or the port of a Ip to about 100k a Sec. I dont want them using all the bandwitdh up on my servers. As you all know IRCd can be a problem. and I am seeing people doing over 500 gigs a month on my servers with running IRCds How can i limit the Speed Transfer on these ips or ports. I have look al over the internet and i cant find anything that works.

OS= Fedora 1
Cpanel/WebHost Manager installed
Over 45 Ips Per System

Apparently there is a traffic conditioner tool (tc) that comes with the iproute package.

Check out this howto.

It looks complicated, but you should be able to do what you want to.

you need to setup bandwith profiling like HTB/CBQ or something... it is much more sophisticated than just setting speed for certain host/ip... as you can only assume ingoing bandwith (outgoing you can control) then you must leave some spare bandwith and so on... fedora has htb-util to simplify it but I don't know it suits your needs. also shorewall has some functions of QoS/bandwith shaping. both packages you can get on fedora.us

Doesnt work on Linux I tried.
