GIMP, Pidgin have different fonts rendering

Hi,

gimp and pidgin interfaces show ugly fonts compared to other gtk apps..
What's wrong ?

It seems to be due to dpi settings I am using tahoma 8 96 dpi and it looks very nice for all other GTK apps but does not render correctly with Pidgin or GIMP

please advise
