Burning CD locks up whole system.

I've got an issue with buring cd images. It locks up my whole system.. ctrl-alt-backsp, ctrl-alt-F2, F3, etc won't break it out of it. I've tried both brasero and gnomebaker, I've tried different iso files. all the same results.

System is a FC 10 x86_64 (with all the latest updates) intel motherboard dual-core cpu with an Optiarc DVD RW AD-7170A on /dev/sr0. I've noticed some of these lines in messages, but at the time of the lockup, nothing gets put in messages:

I presume this lines are put in because I've inserted a blank cd-rw.
I can blank a CD-RW though.
