HDMI or spdif audio F10

I've beem trying to get hdmi audio and/or spdrif audio to work on Fedora 10 now for a couple of days withouth any luck so I turn to you guys for help now.

I got a Nvidia 7100, HDMI video works without any problems. I'm running the 180 beta drivers.

Here's some output
Code:
[htpc@angel ~]$ aplay -L
front:CARD=NVidia,DEV=0
    HDA NVidia, ALC885 Analog
    Front speakers
surround40:CARD=NVidia,DEV=0
    HDA NVidia, ALC885 Analog
4.0 Surround output to Front and Rear speakers
surround41:CARD=NVidia,DEV=0
    HDA NVidia, ALC885 Analog
4.1 Surround output to Front, Rear and Subwoofer speakers
surround50:CARD=NVidia,DEV=0
    HDA NVidia, ALC885 Analog
5.0 Surround output to Front, Center and Rear speakers
surround51:CARD=NVidia,DEV=0
    HDA NVidia, ALC885 Analog
5.1 Surround output to Front, Center, Rear and Subwoofer speakers
surround71:CARD=NVidia,DEV=0
    HDA NVidia, ALC885 Analog
7.1 Surround output to Front, Center, Side, Rear and Woofer speakers
iec958:CARD=NVidia,DEV=0
    HDA NVidia, ALC885 Digital
    IEC958 (S/PDIF) Digital Audio Output
hdmi:CARD=NVidia,DEV=0
    HDA NVidia
    HDMI Audio Output
null
Discard all samples (playback) or generate zero samples (capture)
pulse
    PulseAudio Sound Server
default
    Default
Code:
[htpc@angel ~]$ aplay -l
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: NVidia [HDA NVidia], device 0: ALC885 Analog [ALC885 Analog]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: NVidia [HDA NVidia], device 1: ALC885 Digital [ALC885 Digital]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
I have unmuted the iec958 stuff in alsamixer but I still don't get any audio through the spdif.
Now I'm wondering if it would be better to try the hdmi audio approach. As you can see I have a "HDMI Audio Output" thingy in aplay -L but I don't know how to use it with mplayer or xbmc. Any suggestion would be appreciated

Okay, I actually got HDMI audio to work now by upgrading alsa to 1.0.19.
It works in mplayer with -ao alsa:device=hw=0.3

Now, how do I get pulseaudio to use that device as default?

I had the same problem in Fedora 11 and all i had to do was remove the alsa pulse audio plugin

yum remove alsa-plugins-pulseaudio

Then from terminal type alsamixer and unmute all the sound ports
