yet another Wireless "help!" thread (AR5212)
I hate whining, I really wish I could figure this out.
Fedora seems to know the card exists and I'm assuming that it is properly identified:
(lspci in slax gave me slightly different information?)
the card is identified as wlan0 but when I run iwlist scan I get "no scan results" when there is many wireless networks available to see.
so where do I start I'm using fedora 10
my lspci:
01:0e:0 Ethernet Controller: Atheros Inc. AR5212/AR5213 Multiprotocol MAC/baseband
processor (rev 01)

Good to know that it does work on something.
By the way, for you, and for others who come across this thread--you have a MUCH better chance of getting answers if you put what you know about the wireless card in the thread title. Many people simply ignore something that says wireless, whereas, if you put the model of the card, and someone has experience with that card, they'll often stop and add their advice.
If you're going to try Fedora again, just drop a note in this thread and I'll change the subject line for you, if you've said the heck with it, as Solaris works, that's fine too. (I do know that feeling of why bother with one when it works in the other).

Yes, but this is a common problem in Fedora 10. In Ubuntu or some other Linux distros, when I click in the network icon in bar, it shows the wireless networks available. In Fedora 10, nothing. (An iwlist scan, of course, again nothing).
There should be something missed, that we have to do. The wireless driver is installed.

that would be awesome scottro ,
opensolaris is far too slow on the box that I have for "playing around" as 512MB is the min reqs for opensolaris and 512 is all the box has, fedora ran much smoother

Well, I've changed the title so that now someone with that card might see it and stop by to lend a hand.
Wireless in Linux, as we all know, can be problematic. Sometimes, something will work on Ubuntu and not Fedora, and vice versa--for example, neither Intrepid nor Jaunty, AFAIK, supplies the ath5k kernel module that supports the Atheros 5007EG, but Fedora does.
And then, of course, there are other cards where no one has made a driver yet.
I believe your card can be made to work, but I have no experience with it myself.
