Trouble setting up Printer in F10

I am setting up a lpd network printer in F10 and everything goes fine until I try to print a test page and CUPS stops the printer sends the error message:
/usr/lib/cups/backend/lpd failed
I have tried enabling the printer again and it keeps stopping it.
I went into the etc/printer.conf file and changed the line to job-retry but that did not help
anyone know how to fix this?
thanks,
fryemo
