I have a Dell D630 and a Sony Vaio VGN-FE855E. The Dell is running F8 (2.6.26.8-57.fc8) and the Sony is running F10 (2.6.27.19-170.2.3.5.fc10). Both have Intel 3945ABG wireless.
I've been having the following problem with both laptops: the machine connects to a wireless network without any problem using network manager. After a few hours, I find the machine has locked up, with the caps lock and num lock lights flashing and the mouse pointer frozen. The only way to recover is to power cycle.
The problem seems to be partly related to the particular wireless network we have at the office, which has many access points. A lock-up is more likely if I walk from one floor to another, for example. However, if I stay in one place, the lock up is guaranteed to occur eventually. The wireless network is open, but requires registration through a web page.
Others using XP (on the same model Dell laptop) and OS-X do not report this problem. Also, an earlier F8 kernel (2.6.23.1-42.fc8) on the Dell is somewhat more stable.
Any advice on solving the problem will be appreciated.
