Brute force LUKS 5 weeks passed and forgot password

I had to send my laptop in for repairs and 5 weeks later they still haven't returned it. So I just bought a netbook to tie me over for now. I'm trying to get into the backup I made, but it's luks encrypted and after all that time i don't remember the password

I want to try bruteforcing it because it has all my data from 5 years ago and countless pictures. Could someone please point me in the right direction to get a script or app that can try password combos?

You need a couple of hundred monkeys with typing skills and lots of bananas to keep them going

But seriously, this forum isn't the place for hackerz tips, you encrypted and forgot your password - oh dear.

do you remember what alphabetic-characters were you using? like if they were only lowercase/uppercase letters, numbers, symbols... and the length of your password (like if it was <4 chars, or <6 or 8 characters) ???

bye!!!!!!!

I know it was less than 8 maybe 6, but it could have used lowercase, capitals, numbers and symbols. i used a section of the keyboard so it could be something like "ry465t" using letters and numbers near eachother. i was having to remount it over and over because systemrescuecd linux was crashing for some reason so I made it short so I could type it faster, so it could be as short as "qewr" or something.

ah well...
at least, brute forcing a password of 8 chars is possible..... you need to find a fast software and if you have a fast pc, you could crack it!!!!!! i don't know any good software for you, because i've never had to crack a LUKS volume
