Latest FC10 update - problem with laptop power control settings

Installed latest update containing 2.6.27.19-170.2.35 kernel release. Running Gnome.

When I start the laptop the screen brightness is as though it is running in battery/idle mode.
Opening the Power Control icon shows the brightness set to 100% - however if I move the slider to the right by any amount the full screen brightness returns and the slider functions normally.

Any help appreciated.

Basically I think there is a mismatch and confusing behaviour of gnome-power-manager, as the effective brightness is different than the reported brightness. Basically the screen is never bright exactly as you want it to be... the whole thing sounds buggy. Try using Fn keys.
