intall vmplayer or vmserver on fedora 10

first of all, i would like apologize for asking too many question in this forum. so far, i dint contribute any except asking questions...

1. I have install, vm server, but couldn't see it in any application tab. how to enable it, once we install a application.

2. since i couldn't find vm server that i install, ( i tought its not working at all), so i have downloaded vmware player. but during the installation, there are conflict with both vmplayer and server.

my question is,

how to enable the software that we install on application, or task bar?
how to uninstall, the installed software?
and where the installed software will be located eg. in windows, it located at program files.

as newbie, i hope i could get help from you guys...

thanks in advance.

If you downloaded VMware server 2.0, you open up a web browser. What you do after that---hrrm, I don't remember, I haven't tried it for while. Like many others, I felt they were going in the wrong direction with it, especially as VirtualBox gets better with each release. Somewhere in the VMware server docs, they tell you--you might have to type localhost:<portnumber> or maybe just localhost. You might have better luck with he 1.x version.

As for how to uninstall VMware server, it depends upon how you installed it. If you downloaded an rpm, you can uninstall it with yum remove, if you installed it by another method, I believe there's an uninstall script somewhere. Hopefully, later in the day, someone with more knowledge of VMware server can help, but you should definitely mention if it's VMware server 2.x or 1.x

As for only asking questions rather than answering them, don't worry about it. It's a natural progression. FIrst, you ask questions. You (hopefully) get answers, and meanwhile learn on your own. Then, you see a question where you actually know the answer, or recently experienced the same problem. You post an answer, possibly nervously qualifying it with I'm a newcomer myself, but I found...

As you get more knowledge, you will, hopefully, be in a good position to share with others, and probably in a better way than some with more experience--because being a newcomer will be fresher in your mind. Don't worry about it, eventually, you'll start helping people too.
