Could someone please help me configure to send my fedora comp's hostname to dhcpd? my windows computers do this just fine, but even with NetworkManager the leases file dosen't see hostnames. I need this for DDNS.

If linux is supposed to be this great example of standards complience, why does windows have no problem sending its host name out of the box, but linux is more config BS.
I'm trying to get DDNS working with BIND and DHCPD, and I almost tore all of my hair out because my fedora laptop wasn't getting a fqdn with bind and i thought that meant nothing was working. then I decide to connect a windows computer and bam! everythings works.
I found that the leases file for dhcpd had all of the neccessary ddns info for the windows comp, but NONE for the fedora comp.
why is this? why do I have to do more configuring for something as rudimentary as "send hostname"
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE linux and haven't used windows for more than 10 minutes in months, but crap like this just ticks me off.
