Hardware virtualization : Is the BIOS playing it's part ?

Hi !
I plan to use virtualization under Fedora 9 on my laptop.
Unfortunately, the BIOS has no tuning parameter available for this.
I wonder if it will change anything under Fedora or not ?
I think the default is to disable virtualization instructions so will these hardware instructions be available under Fedora or not ?
Thanks a lot for your help and advice !
