Disable Fedora's ability to change LCD brightness

Hello,

Since the Fedora 6 era, the LCD brightness keeps changing. I used to be able to set it with the hotkeys and it would remember the settings (I assume in the bios)

Now unfortunately Fedora seems to have some sort of power management that makes a right mess of the brightness (Redhat Enterprise 5 is only just bearable)

Is there any way I can simply disable this? Perhaps removing a kernel module?

I really want to upgrade to a newer version but this is the main pitfall!

Thanks guys!

I can change brightness on Vaio VGN-FW21E with KDE: System Settings/Display/Gamma but I can't find a proper brightness setting and the gamma slider will go from "almost completely white" to "just a little less white". I was hopping to find a setting to make the screen dark enough to use at night without going blind. And after that will maybe I'll also find a way to make the Fn key for brightness work in conjunction with that setting. Any help appreciated.
