Unhappy networking inactive with each restart

1.after being away for a few months,my ethernet connection becomes inactive..thus I have to reactivate with each restart.
2.Of course there's no web browsing because it says that I'm working offline. The same with evolution mail application.
3.With each restart,the applet pop up windows tells me about the bug report just crashed...
4.I'm using fedora 9 and looking for any clue to correct this error with the 'inactive network device',and thanks for taking my question.
