Didn't work, but good try though.
I got the same results as before. I forgot to turn off the dma before I tried.
When it is done searching in about 6 min, I will turn off the dma and try again!

In the spirit of trying everything, there is often a place in the BIOS setup to turn off dma.
Are we sure this cdrom drive really works? Did it ever work in FC1 or windows?

Yeah it did work in windows, and I will not go back for all the money in the world.
I bought this cd-rom drive together with the dvdram rw drive, both LG.
I will try to boot up with only the cdrom drive connected, ok.

Tashiro

The cdrom drive doesn't work as a stand alone master on the secondary ide.
I wil install win98se on a HDD 0,6 GB and see if it works if not I am returning it
to the store where I bought it.
Thanks for your help Tashirosgt, I really appreciate it!

also, some bios do have an option to enable and disable dma for each ide bus, that is if you haven't killed that cd-rom already.

Well I think it is broken, even win98se can't read a cdrom disc in it!
Going to return it tomorrow, and ask for a new one. The drive is only
5 months old and I still have the receipt.
