Question Quick touch keys on my HP compaq notebook

Hello all,
I have Compaq Presario CQ45 206au notebook which carries AMD Turion 64 X2 Processor, and ATI chipset.
It has some capacitive quick touch keys for muting and volume changing,
When I touch the keys, I get the visual notification of the action such as volume changing with graphical slide bar, but there are no variations in the sound levels at all.
Any help on this issue appreciated.
Thanks and regards.
