F11 Plymouth

Hello, How can I accomplish getting this effect:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0JdGOyB2p-U

Or a fedora boot screen that fades from the boot screen itself right into the login screen
(check :39-:43 of the video to see what I mean)

Not sure how Plymouth is supported on Nvidia. I have had exactly that bootup screen on my Intel GMA950 machine since the beginning of Fedora 10. My servers have cheapo ATI R600 cards and they do it too. That is where I first saw it (actually the plasma planet one) immediately after installing Fedora 10 and I had no idea what I was looking at.

I have performed multiple installs of FC10 and FC11 on Nvidia cards and have never once seen anything other than the 3-color bar slide across the bottom.

just add vga=0x318 to your kernel line in /boot/grub/menu.lst

# grub.conf generated by anaconda
#
# Note that you do not have to rerun grub after making changes to this file
# NOTICE: You do not have a /boot partition. This means that
# all kernel and initrd paths are relative to /, eg.
# root (hd0,0)
# kernel /boot/vmlinuz-version ro root=/dev/sda1
# initrd /boot/initrd-version.img
#boot=/dev/sda
default=1
timeout=5
splashimage=(hd0,0)/boot/grub/splash.xpm.gz

Check the plymouth section of the following guide. It also mentions how to add extra plymouth themes.

Or if you're using the nouveau driver, you can just add nouveau.modeset=1 to the kernel options and it will do the KMS automatically to your monitor's native resolution.

I don't see plymouth theme after upgrade to FC11. My grub.conf:
title Fedora (2.6.29.4-167.fc11.i586)
root (hd0,1)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.29.4-167.fc11.i586 ro root=UUID=66db29dd-b1e3-4ba6-b7e7-97b56f93b7f5 rhgb quiet vga=0x318
initrd /boot/initrd-2.6.29.4-167.fc11.i586.img
title Windows XP

Graphic card is Intel GMA950.

I dont get the Plymouth start up either. I know about the ATI driver issues (I have an ATI Mobility Radeon X1400) yet I get full 3D effects, Compiz Fusion works fine.
My question is: what is so demanding about Plymouth that my card cant support it? I dont get it...

What exactly is Plymouth? A graphical boot? Is it animated or something? What is so special about it ? When I boot Fedora 11 I get a Fedora logo in the center of a blue screen. The logo is just an outline so to speak, then it fills in while system is booting. is that Plymouth? I mean I certainly dont have a text boot.
I realize that I might sound like an idiot at times but I have a lot of catching up to do. Plymouth or not (I have no clue) I will say that I have never seen any system boot so fast!

I have actually seen that a few times, that video is what got me wondering...
I will have to take a short video of my system booting. Its similar to what is pictured there but a little different.
I am still having a hard time grasping the the whole graphic driver/Plymouth graphical boot. I mean it just doesnt add up. Let me preface by saying I am not all that concerned about my boot up, its the concept that is driving me NUTS. How does my card support spinning 3D cubes in addition to all the other Compiz effects all while playing a movie with I dont know how many other open apps all with 3D windows.... YET it apparently cant handle drawing a white bar across the bottom of my screen during boot.....
Do you guys see what im saying? It just seems absurd. What am I missing?

It's the animated graphical boot. When booting the computer when grub comes up, tap the space bar, press the letter "E" scroll down to the kernel line and append "vga=ask" save it and continue the boot, you will see the different resolutions that are supported, find the one you want and select it. If satisfied with it, look at the internet for fedora vga resolutions, 1024x769 is vga=792 or 793 I can't remember, once you find the correct one, edit /boot/grub/grub.conf and append the vga=xxx and you will have the graphical boot.
