Rails vs Django

Any recommendation on choosing rails or Django?

Rails seems a bit mature but it lacks scalability while Django seems more scalable but not that mature.

BTW, how do I know if a site is built on Django or Rails? For instance, freshmeat.net seems nice... Does it build on Django or rails or what?

Just read the feature list for both and decide which would fit your purposes better. You may also want to look into Turbogears or Pylons if you wish to mix and match different framework properties.

The differences between Python and Ruby are probably as important as the differences between Rails and Django.
I've had great experiences with Django.

It depends whether you like coding in Python or Ruby better. Also if you are starting out I would lean toward Rails just because there is many more excellent webcast tutorials out there for it like at www.railscasts.com. That being said Django written documentation is far superior to the Rails stuff.

I like Python so...
