OpenOffice inclusion on LiveCD?

Fedora 11 currently has AbiWord preinstalled on the LiveCD.
Why doesn't it replace that software with the full featured OpenOffice suite?

I'm sure it's still got space since there is a custom spin called Fedora BrOffice which contains a mock version of OpenOffice on the Live CD, but the system is in Brazilian.

There is no space on the LiveCd for OOo which would be 300MB or more in img install version.
Some one is always asking for a few MB here and there while deciding to remove something to get the space..

Download the DVD and your worries are over.

Hi,

Fedora includes very comprehensive support for different locales and hence doesn't have space for Openoffice.org in the Live CD. The BrOffice Spin is specifically for a particular region and hence removes all those locale support and pulls in a rebranded version of Openoffice.org instead. If you would like to, you can create your own Live CD and even participate and create a official spin. There are some ongoing discussions about creating a Fedora Live DVD with more packages in the fedora-desktop list.

Hate to drag a thread back from the dead. Is there a clean way to install it because if I try to do it thru the add/remove apps it wants to add 140+ dependencies? I'm trying to install it onto a thumb drive with about 750 mb left.

Create a custom livecd and edit the .ks file to include OOo and don't worry if it is over 700MB as you will be installing to a usb stick of 2GB or more most likely.

I don't get your point. Besides the hype for Java, is there any real benefit being run through JVM or locally? I found Abiword to be a reliable, stable and fast program.

the thing with java is it can be run on all machines with the same code, because it is first run through the Java Virtual Machine or JVM, which then run. it just basically means that you can run OO of anything while abi you have to recompile it for each machine. but ya Abi is faster cause its compiled (besides scripts) on the machine, hence why its faster. But i like OO cause it a suite of things and works with MS stuff...well most MS stuff doesnt like 2007 stuff yet
