Unhappy Fedora 11 onto external TV via DVI to HDMI cable

Hello Folks

I've been long time Fedora user first time ever had to post a question here , but this is starting to drive me a little mad.

Here's the deal , plain Fedora 11 Gnome LiveCD install , on a lappy which is Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Si 3655. Lovely little thing.
Now the thing with this setup is that the laptop has the most hated GPU ever that is , yes you've guessed it - Intel GMA4500MHD.

So when it comes to hooking up a TV via DVI to HDMI cable , the monitors panel actually detects the screen and I can select whichever resolution I want (in gnome display settings that is) but after clicking apply it fails big time , everytime.

I tried xrandr , some other nifty tricks to no avail , so helplessly confused I appeal to the community to give me some hints and tips , before the laptop ends up in the rubbish bin.

Regards to the Gurus and Cheers to whoever comes up with anything to get me going..
Lukasz
