Fedora 11 and Lenovo T500 webcam

Long time Fedora user. Installed Fedora 11 on my Lenovo T500 laptop. Integrated webcam worked right out of the box. Updated and patched my release to the latest version and now my webcam apps all say that no video camera is detected. Have tried Cheese Webcam Booth, Camorama, and Camstream and none of those detect my webcam anymore.
Is anyone else seeing this issue? How can I get back to having my webcam operate again? Have installed and am using Skype 2.0.0.72 for Linux, but it also does not detect my web cam. Would like to place video calls to family.
Thanks in advance.

Okay, I solved my own issue. In order for VirtualBox to use USB devices, you have to configure Fedora to not grab those USB devices during bootup. I typically like to attach to a USB device on my own. However, VirtualBox was grabbing a device called "Chicony Electronics" which was my builtin webcam. So, once I disabled that feature, all the Linux webcam utilities worked just fine.
Hope this helps someone else.

To use webcam we must install Skype? I dont know how Skype works but all my friends are yahoo and hotmail "guys". So what to use, and how to do?

Fedora 11 (webcam: ID 041e:4051 Creative Technology, Ltd Live! Cam Notebook Pro [VF0250] )

While reading through the net, I successfully launched this:
# LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libv4l/v4l1compat.so cheese &

But this didnt solve my need: Chat with webcam

You don't have to use Skype. But if you want, there is a newer version for Fedora on the Skype.com site. Works great. I have also tried out Google chat and it works just fine. Read my response to how I got things fixed.
