Hello earthling,
I don't know the answer to that. Sorry. And I'm not having that problem, but I can say a few things about it. I customize my XFCE panel menus to create a new submenu and add my personal scripts in there. I seem to remember having to log out and back in to see the new menu entries while I'm tinkering with them. When I'm done with them, I have no further problems with them. So maybe it's kinda normal behavior of XFCE after you install something that adds to the panel menus. Later, I learned that the desktop and the panel menus can be refreshed with this instead of logging out...

The components of the XFCE panel menus are located in /etc/xdg/menus and /usr/share/applications. The default icons seem, to me, to come from usr/share/icons/gnome/16x16/categories. Anyway, you probably should not directly tinker with things in those locations. Instead, you should copy them to ~/.config/menus, ~/.local/share/applications, and ~/.local/share/desktop-directories in your home directory where your adjustments will sort of take precedence. You can teach yourself more about it from here...
