Wacom Intuos issue with Fedora 12 X-86 64

Hi all,

First time posting here.

I am a long-time Unix / Linux user who has just gone Windows-free ! I do mostly 3D work on this system (with a little X-Plane for fun) and all my hardware seems to work great, except for my Wacom Intuos4 tablet.

Anyway, Fedora 12 is awsome. But I have been away long enough to be a little rusty on my linux skills.

So, if anyone has any ideas on how to get a Wacom pen tablet to work, let me know. Any help appreciated greatly.

As of now, my tablet just crashes X as soon as there is any kind of input from the stylus or the Wacom mouse.

Tablet is a Wacom Intuos 4 model PTK-640.

All other parts of my system seem to work fine on this release.

Specs:

Fedora 12 Kernel Linux 2.6.31.5-127.fc12.x86_64

AMD quad core 9850
Asus M3NHT Deluxe
4 GB mem
Logitech lighted USB keyboard
Logitech wireless USB mouse
AXPC 5.1 headphones USB (sound card built into headphones..works great)
Saitek X52 sticks (for X-Plane of course)

How did you configure your tablet? Through xorg.conf or HAL?
Try disabling "pad" device, it worked for me on openSUSE, of course this means that you won't have button on the tablet working.

Never found the solution with Fedora.

Switched to Ubuntu Studio and it worked out of the box. Not sure why Fedora was having trouble.

I am a fan of Fedora and have been using it since about FC7. For what I do (3D and audio/visual stuff) I like Ubuntu Studio alot better.

I'm almost in the same boat with the intuitus4. Same tablet and have you tried rolling an rpm for the 8.4 driver?

Yeah it's an old thread but if you're still searching then grab linuxwacom 0.8.2.2-17.fc12 from koji. So far so good but I haven't got into the buttons yet.
