Chromium 4.0.253.0 chrome browser opens exe process when playing flash

Chromium 4.0.253.0 opens exe process when playing flash. First sleeping than it remains as a exe zombie process.

Does anyone know what this is about?

Any security issues?

Thanks

Have you found any more information on this? I was just noticing the same thing. I noticed my processor usage spiking. I killed the exe process, and the only negative effect was a few of my tabs with flash running gave me an error that libflashplayer.so crashed. I guess this is mainly weird because it has a separate process for flash, vs firefox showing the 60% processor useage for the same thing. I think the previous poster is wrong, that chrome (I'm assuming he is talking about picasa) is just a wine app. Did google just pick a name for a process that scares us linux users (i.e., "exe")?

I'm actually kind of happy that flash is isolated now. If some advertisement is overusing my processor, I can just kill exe and be happy...

You're not the only ones wondering:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=8478466

Appears when chromium is brought up. Rises to the top when a flash intensive site is clicked on, drops when changing to a non flash site, disappears when chromium is closed.

this problem appeared on my laptop recently.
but the killall exe doesn't resolve the problem, it just stops the flash plugin and I can no more watch video on my browser. and when I refresh the page exe restart again.
maybe it's related to the last chromium upgrade ??

P.S: I have a similar problem with firefox too and in this case the process is called nbviewer.bin

Hint: Try "ls -l /proc/*/exe"

Good job. :-)

Do you know what it means? /proc/self/exe is an obuse but straightforward way for a process to spawn another copy of itself without having to divine what the name of the original executable was.

Any more info on this? Is Las having a securityproblem? In that case I have to, because I get same type of response to "ls -l /proc/*/exe"
